The concept for Vernon Square Apartments came to fruition when Wesbury President and CEO, Brain S. Nageotte, saw a need for quality housing in an underserved subset of Crawford County’s growing senior population. That opportunity was to create moderate income senior housing options for those that do not qualify for subsidized housing and find an entry fee model of larger senior lifestyle communities unaffordable.
That vision has always been to offer a one and two bedroom apartment complex with a focus on wellness, activities, and age-in-place amenities created by a trusted leader in the senior care lifestyle industry, Wesbury.
For more than a century, Wesbury has offered the full continuum of aging services, including independent living, enhanced living and personal care, short-stay rehab, memory support, long-term care, as well as in-home care solutions to more than 500 individuals and their families every day. Wesbury, located at 31 N. Park Avenue in Meadville, is a mission-driven, not-for-profit organization committed to providing lifestyle choices and compassionate healthcare services to area seniors.
While Vernon Square Apartments is owned and operated by Wesbury, Vernon Square is a rental only independent living apartment complex.
While living at Vernon Square is part of Wesbury’s collection of services, it does not include providing residents of Vernon Square with access to the Benevolent Care Fund or first priority access to the continuum of care afforded residents who live on Wesbury’s main campus. However, Vernon Square residents will have access to Wesbury’s continuum of care should the need arise in their future. Like all applicants, they will be required to meet the health and financial criteria to qualify.
